Jason Henson

Jazz Guitar

About me

Hi I’m Jason Henson. I’m a jazz guitarist based in Brighton. I’ve been playing professionally for around 10 years, during which time I’ve been hired by many of the country’s finest musicians, including US legend Joe Lee Wilson, The Charlotte Glasson Group, Romanian band Hai La Drum and gypsy swing outfit The Jonny Hepbir Trio. It was with Jonny that I travelled to the gypsy campsites in Holland and Germany to play with some of the grand-masters in order to incorporate their incredible techniques into my playing. As well as playing in many jazz clubs all over England, I have travelled the world performing on cruise ships. I have also appeared at many jazz and other music festivals including Marlborough, Ealing, Swanage, North Devon, Hayling, Glasgow, Teignmouth and Plymouth world music festival. Also, between all these engagements I’ve made time to play at many weddings, parties, corporate events and residencies.

Rockin’ in Rhythm

SO Trio

Jonny Hepbir Trio

This highly versatile and popular trio has done so many wedding gigs they’ve lost count. They’ve been playing together for over 10 years, during which time they’ve been to France, Spain and Sweden on tour and many other countries on board cruise ships. Back at home in the UK they’ve been performing at public and private functions, jazz clubs, corporate jollies and countless other engagements.

These dapper gents specialise in swing and jazz from the 1920s, 30s and 40s. Their repertoire is very large, so they can easily provide a whole evening’s entertainment, and they can look the part too.

If you’re into Ellington, Basie, Glen Miller and Stan Kenton, then look no further than Rockin’ in Rhythm. They’re not a big band, but they can sound like one. The most popular line-up is the octet, consisting of drums, bass, piano and guitar at the back, and trumpet, trombone, sax and vocals at the front. Many clients hire this group as their wedding band, and end up hiring them again and again, for parties, anniversaries and more.

Sara Oschlag (hence SO) is a young Danish singer making waves at home in Copenhagen, and here in England. Her regular trio consists of herself plus double bass and guitar. The songs are from the Great American Songbook, including standards and show tunes, plus plenty of Bossa Nova selections.

Guitarist Jonny Hepbir formed his own trio in 2005, using hand-picked musicians from the world of Gypsy Jazz. The group performs the classic gypsy swing repertoire all around the country, at countless weddings, jazz clubs, restaurants, hotels, French markets and more. Two guitars and double bass, small amps, all in one car, super fast set-up and set-down times and a huge repertoire make this a very popular little combo.
